Join the HJF Team!   HJF is seeking a Physiological Data ModelingComputational Research Scientist II to support the Biotechnology High-Performance Computing Software Applications Institute (BHSAI). The mission of the BHSAI is to perform interdisciplinary research, combining physical, computational, and life-science research, to improve the efficiency and efficacy in the development of militarily relevant medical products for Force Health Protection.    Research in this area focuses on the development of individual-specific mathematical models and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for preventing non-battle injuries, optimizing and enhancing Soldier performance, and optimizing casualty care.   Research efforts in this area support military operational medicine and combat casualty care missions. For operational support, we are developing phenomenological, first-principle, and data-driven adaptive mathematical models to reduce the risk of heat injuries and improve mental activity in response to sleep deprivation. Join the HJF Team!   HJF is seeking a Data Analyst III to provide analytic support to epidemiologists, biostatisticians and scientists and ensure data quality and data integrity.   This position will be in support of The Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research at Uniformed Services University. The Data Analyst III will work alongside scientists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and other appropriate research staff using real-world data and complex datasets. The analyst has advanced knowledge of real-world health data, can comment on the ability to answer research questions with this data, and can address complex challenges surrounding the use, acquisition, and analysis of these complex datasets. Further, the analyst is responsible for conducting analysis of this data and troubleshooting problems arise during acquisition and analysis. This includes producing publication ready results and visualizations. The analyst will provide feedback to scientists and biostatisticians during preparation of grants and protocols which propose to use real-world military data (e.g., the MDR, DMDC, etc) and will be able to produce analytical datasets from many sources (e.g., MDR data, complex longitudinal prospective data, and other datasets). Join the HJF Team!   The Xiaofeng Allen Su laboratory at the Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) is seeking a highly motivated Post-Baccalaureate Researcher with interests in cancer research to join a dynamic team science project. This project is under Project for Military Exposure and Toxin History Evaluation in US Service Members (PROMETHEUS), which is a Cancer Moonshot 2.0 project of the Department of Defense’s Uniformed Services University of the Health and Sciences (USUHS) Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP). This research led by CPDR Principal Investigators focuses on identifying the combination of inheritable markers and environmental exposures influences prostate cancer development. In addition, the project aims to understand the fundamental mechanism of inheritable markers and environmental agents/toxins in impacting prostate cancer progression.   The Post-Baccalaureate will be responsible for carrying out research projects in under supervision of postdoctoral fellows or lead scientists. Candidates should have interests in molecular and cell biology. Performs analysis and interpretation of results. Incumbent exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results. We are interested in understanding inflammation and mechanisms of treating TBI.    MTBI2 is a federal military traumatic brain injury (TBI) research program organized as a partnership between the Uniformed Services University and the National Institutes of Health. The PET/SPECT/CT program primarily uses 18F based radiotracers, including novel tracers for research. The Scientist I will work with a variety of small to medium sized animals and will follow all applicable animal research laws and regulations.   This position will be in support of the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at the Uniformed Services University (USU). Dr. Hood is the Director of the Biomedical Research Imaging Core (BRIC), a preclinical imaging laboratory of the Department of Radiology that supports small animal research for USU.  This position would support the molecular, optical, and computed tomography (CT) sections of the BRIC, to include post-processing and analysis of image data. The CT section includes a variety of in vivo and ex vivo micro CT systems. Join the HJF Team!   HJF is seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst III (Computational Biology) who designs and executes computational genomics and statistical analysis (mutation discovery and trait association) in large DNA Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) cohorts and genome wide RNA expression analysis. Provides analytic support and collaborative assistance to investigators and personnel.    This position will be in support of Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), Medical Readiness Systems Biology Branch (MRSB) Branch. MRSB Branch, aligned under the Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience (CMPN), consists of a team of laboratory molecular biology research scientists and technicians alongside computational biologists and bioinformaticians focused on identifying biomarkers of disease using a systems biology and multi-omics approach. Laboratory scientists and support staff complete a wide range of laboratory assays necessary for generating multi-omics datasets as well as research dissemination efforts including compiling, summarizing, and presenting information to inform novel research efforts and disseminate findings. Computational scientists perform advanced data analyses and manage big data to identify biomarkers and develop products for a variety of stakeholders across the military health system, in addition to, conducting literature reviews, writing manuscripts, and developing new research protocols, and funding proposals. Products developed, analyzed, and presented by the MRSB are regularly used by enterprise leadership to inform doctrine, practices, and policies. The research mission of MRSB aims to apply robust and precise molecular-based solutions for military-relevant health performance, resilience, and readiness. MRSB is a disease agnostic program that utilizes high-throughput, multi-omics platforms supported by a suite of cutting edge, targeted assay tools and AI-driven analytical capabilities to identify diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and generate a knowledge base about biological mechanisms and personalized care.    The Henry M. Develops new technologies and protocols.   This position will be in support of Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), Operational Infectious Diseases (OID). OID conducts on-going, laboratory-based surveillance of US military populations in unique environments to quantify and study the etiology of infectious illnesses. Test specimens are collected from ongoing surveillance programs and from special investigations of febrile illnesses and pneumonia among military personnel or civilians (recruits, forces afloat, deployed forces, outbreaks of concern, and border populations). In addition to the utilization of portable, rapid assay technologies to identify pathogens in the field, test specimens and limited epidemiologic data, when approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), are provided to the NHRC laboratory where diagnostics and, in some instances, in-depth pathogen characterization is conducted. Results are provided to sponsors, the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center, local investigators and collaborators and, when applicable, county health units in order to guide proper responses that ultimately affect both the readiness of US forces and the safety of public health.    The Henry M. Join the HJF Team!   HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to be responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team. The incumbent will be responsible for initiating and carrying out scientific projects on the role of innate immunity in infection and vaccine development in support of the goals and objectives of the Innate Immunology section and under the supervision of senior scientists. The position involves understanding how the innate immune system can influence adaptive immunity elicited during infection and vaccination. The innate immunology section is particularly interested in studying the contribution of monocytes, dendritic cells, innate T cells (gamma delta, MAIT and iNKT cells) as well as NK cells responses to vector and adjuvant used in vaccination or to natural infection. The position also involves understanding how antibodies engage innate effector cells to mediate immunity and assessing other functional characteristics of these antibodies elicited during infection and vaccination. The incumbent will be part of a team of biologists, clinicians and statisticians working on a range of questions related to vaccine research focusing principally on HIV, but also Dengue, Ebola, SARS-CoV-2, or other pathogens of interest to the program. The candidate will work with different stakeholders in a highly multidisciplinary environment.   This position will be in support Innate Immunology section of the US Military HIV Research Program (MHRP).   The Henry M.
