The Henry M. Jackson Foundation Medical Research International (HJFMRI) provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to global medical research programs. HJFMRI in collaboration with The Walter Reed Project, HIV Program-Kericho carries out HIV / AIDS vaccine and therapeutic research, and with PEPFAR, supports HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in South Rift Valley. HJFMRI / Walter Reed Project- Kericho is seeking to fill a Transportation Coordinator. This position is established to provide transportation coordination services in support of the program within the SRV region.

 

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise/direct staff in the transport section
  • Advice on logistics management, structures, and staffing levels.
  • Schedules and conducts transport section meetings.
  • Design, implement, and continuously review transport policies and procedures
  • Ensure that accurate and complete vehicle data are kept and that all relevant records are maintained as per HJF/MRI/MRILTDGTE policies regarding vehicle use.
  • Ensure that internal control systems in the transport section are functioning at all times. (Fleet Management System and DRIVE CAM).
  • Drive HJF vehicles in line with existing provisions.
  • Monitor driver conduct and vehicle roadworthiness with colleagues from the Fleet Team.
  • Conducts employee-training sessions on relevant subjects.
  • Ensure that unit vehicles are driven in accordance with driving legal requirements and the organization’s driving regulations.
  • Make sure that all vehicles have valid insurance certificates, speed governors, and road licenses and that all drivers have valid driving licenses all the time.
  • Carry out continuous and annual performance appraisals of the drivers.
  • Report any incident/ accident that involves injury to any pedestrian and damage to the vehicle or third party immediately, in line with organization procedure.
  • Carry out other relevant duties assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Secondary School education Minimum C+ and a minimum of Diploma in Transport Management with a valid professional driver’s license are required.

     

Prior Work Experience: At least three years in transport coordination, two of which should be with a reputable fleet management system.

  

    Motor vehicle: Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle operations and maintenance.


Computer skills
: Ability to work with MS Office suite.        

 

Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in English (both written and oral).

 

Exercise of Judgment: The incumbent is expected to make an independent and professional judgement in line with existing policies on the quality and effectiveness of motor pool and travel matters as appropriate.
