Join the HJF Team!

HJF is seeking a Research Associate I to perform research and/or development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results.

This position will be in support of the Biochemistry department in the lab of Dr. Philip Jordan.

This position performs research and/or development with other scientific and technical staff. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results.  We are seeking a focused and motivated scientist who has completed their MA in Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology or related fields and is looking to continue their training research associate.

Our lab is funded by the NIH (NICHD and NIGMS) to assess two major initiatives: 1) Assessment of processes required for genome maintenance (DNA repair, recombination, and chromosome segregation) during mitosis and meiosis. 2) Modeling human gonad development using organoid culture to understand human reproductive development and disease. We seek a candidate for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team.

The ideal candidate will have experience with mouse models and/or mammalian cell culture, particularly human embryonic/pluripotent stem cell culture. An application will also be bolstered by knowledge in methods such as fluorescence microscopy (live cell imaging and/or immunofluorescence microscopy), immuno-histology, molecular biology (DNA cloning, RT-PCR, and protein expression/purification, CRISPR/Cas9 genomic engineering), co-immunoprecipitation, gene targeting/transgenic techniques, and biochemical assays including ELISA, colorimetric, fluorometric, and luminescent assays. Experience with single-cell analyses such as RNA-seq, ATACseq, ChIPseq, etc. are also of interest for our research objectives.

Note: This work site requires that Non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years.
